Langtang is the subrange of Nepalese Himalaya located inside the Langtang National Park. One of the closest trek destinations to Kathmandu, Langtang valley is home to Langtang Lirung (7227m), Gosainkunda Lake and Kyanjin Gompa (Buddhist monastery). Langtang shares the border with Tibet in the north.The lifestyle, culture, and traditions of the region mostly resemble that of Tibet with Shamanistic roots endemic to age-old Bon-Po tradition. The indigenous Tamang and Sherpa tribes are the major inhabitants of the region with Buddhism being their predominant religion. Langtang Valley Trek takes you in a mystical and cultural journey into the ancient trans-Himalayan trade center of Nepal.

The 15-days trip begins at Kathmandu. A 7-hour drive northwest of Kathmandu takes you through the spiraling hills to Sybrubensi village in Rasuwa district. The trek commences from the hills and advances deep into the mountains. The trail ascends through the Tamang villages of Lama Hotel, Mundu and Langtang village before resting at Kyanjin Gompa. Unlike other villages, Kyanjin is mostly occupied by Sherpa inhabitants. You will get to witness the oldest Buddhist monastery at Kyanjin and climb the local KyanjinRi peak before descending back to Sybrubensi. The local peaks including Langtang Lirung (7227m), LangtangRi (7205m), Tserko Ri (4984m) and Yala Peak (5,550m) are clearly visible from the top. Most of the trail lies inside Langtang National Park, the first Himalayan national park of Nepal. The pristine park is home to the exotic wildlife including Himalayan black bear, Himalayan Thar, Rhesus monkey, and Red Panda. Langtang Valley Trek is suitable for trekkers of any age and experience. The best season to access Langtang remains during spring (March-June) and autumn (September-November).

We’ll visit the Buddhist monastery of Shin Gompa and learn some things or two about Buddhist culture and don’t forget to taste the delicious Yak cheese. Marveling at the sight of snowy giants like Manaslu (8163m) and Langtang (7227m), the trek leads us towards the immaculate turquoise gem of the Gosainkunda Lake. The descent from the lakes takes us past the Lauribina pass (4610m) to Ghopte, and through settlements like MelamchiGaon. After stopping at Kutumsang, and crossing the Pati Bhanjyang,we arrive at Chisapani which ultimately paves the way to Sundarijal. Watch the beautiful waterfall there, and with a heart full of memories, head towards your home.

ITINERARY

Day-01: Arrive Kathmandu|1300m. – Overnight at Hotel.
Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will warmly greet you and drive you to your hotel. Once at the hotel, you can choose to relax or stroll outside and shop for trek accessories, snacks or goodies. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu to Syabrubensi|1,500m. – Overnight at Lodge.
Today, you’ll embark on a road journey spanning 80km from Kathmandu to Sybrubensi village in Rasuwa The road trip may last 6-7 hours and takes you through the hills of Central Nepal. On the way, you can witness the undulating rivers keeping you sincere company on the drive while fleeting glimpses of settlements of will make the ride even more enjoyable. Once at Sybrubensi village, you can relax and prepare for the trek. Overnight stay at Sybrubensi.

Day-03: Trek to Lama Hotel|2,480m. – Overnight at Lodge.
The first day of the trek advances northwards towards Lama Hotel. Walking from Sybrubensi, you’ll journey through the Bhote Koshi River and follow the trail upstream along the Langtang Khola before trekking uphill for few more hours through Bamboo forest and Rimche to Lama Hotel. The trail, lying in the Langtang National Park, is also a home to a variety of wildlife and vegetation. Overnight stay at Lama Hotel.

Day-04: Trek to Mundu|3,470m. Via Langtang Village. – Overnight at Lodge.
Today, you’ll be the trek from Lama Hotel. The trail ascends along the dense forest towards Ghodatabela. The vantage point from Ghodatabela offers some of the scenic views of the mountains including Langtang Lirung (7227m), Tserko Ri, and Shishapangma. From here, you’ll ascend towards Chyamki and Langtang village before taking an uphill route to Mundu. Overnight stay at Mundu.

Day-05: Trek to Kyanjin 3,830m. – Overnight at Lodge
The trail ascends gradually through several small streams and moraines. It may take 3 to 5 hours to reach Kyanjin Gompa from Mundu. Once at the top, you will be surrounded by a jaw-dropping panorama of surrounding mountains. The area mostly occupied by Sherpa tribe and the ambiance around the village is quite surreal. Overnight stay at Kyanjin.

Day-06: Rest for acclimatization and explore the valley – Overnight at Lodge
Today, you’ll explore the Kyanjin valley and visit Kyanjin Gompa. You will also get to climb the local peak of Kyanjin Ri (4400m) before making your way back to Kyanjin village. Visiting the recently re-opened cheese factory and the mini-hydropower are other highlights of the trek. You also can explore the villages where you can get insights on the lifestyle and culture of the residents. Overnight stay at Kyanjin.

Day-07: Trek to Ghodatabela – Overnight at Lodge
The trail from Kyanjin routes back to Lama Hotel. From here, you’ll retrace your step back to the starting point of the trek. While going down, you’ll get some of the amazing views of the Langtang Himal (7227m) towering near the valley. You’ll pass through Langtang village, and few other Tamang villages before arriving at Ghotatabela. Overnight stay at Ghodatabela.

Day 08: Trek to Thulo Syabru|2,720m: 5-6 hours trek
Today the descend will take you through the lush forests towards the Thulo Syabru. We cross the suspension bridges and traversing the fields we arrive at the village of Thulo Syabru, which is famous for its Tamang traditions. Overnight stay at Thulo Syabru.

Day 09: Trek to Shin Gompa at Chandanbari|3,330m: 4-5 hours trek
The route to Shin Gompa takes us through the Foprang Danda, and we climb steep slopes while admiring the view of snowy mountains like Langtang (7227m) and Ganesh Himal (7422m). The ascending trail slowly converts into a flat level which signals that we are on the right route towards Shin Gompa. This place is famed for its cheese factory, the Buddhist monasteries, and astounding panoramic views. Overnight stay at Shin Gompa.

Day 10: Trek to Gosainkunda|4,380m: 6 hours trek
The major highlight of the trek is the Gosainkunda Lake, and to reach there we take a path that involves walking on a ridge for a major part of a day. Along the way, we can observe the magnificent panorama of the Himalayas including the Annapurna, Manaslu, and Hiunchuli ranges. We will take the path that crosses the pastures of LauribinaPass (4610m), and we will cross some settlements too. We’ll reach the Gosainkunda basin, which comprises the main lakes like Saraswatikunda, Bhairab Kunda, and Gosainkunda. The pristine river oozes culture and nature. Overnight stay at Gosainkunda.

Day 11: Trek to Ghopte|3530m:6-7 hours trek
We begin our trek towards Ghopte by walking around the shore of the lakes, before finally ascending towards the Lauribina Pass (4610m). The trail is rough and uneven so,caution is advised. We cross through moraines and miniature lakes before reaching the pass. The pass marks the beginning of the Helambu region and later descends into the Melamchi valley. After conquering a small hill, we reach Ghopte. Overnight stay at Ghopte.

Day 12: Trek to Kutumsang|2470m: 7 hours trek
We follow the descending trail which comprises of many boulders, and then we finally ascend to Tharepati. There are two routes, one leads to Melamchi Gaon and the other one leads to Kutumsang, which ultimately leads to Sundarijal. We follow this trail which includes walking along the countryside while being accompanied by the meadows and small scrubs. After descending to Mangengoth, we climb at a small pass at Pangbo Danda, and later we walk towards Kutumsang. Overnight stay at Kutumsang.

Day 13: Trek to Chisapani|2215m: 3-4 hours trek
Our trek for today leads us to GulBhanjyang (2130m), which is a perfect example of a hill village. Interact with the locals residing here to know about their culture. Climbing a forested ridge, we reach the summit of Thotundanda. The descending journey takes us to PatiBhanjyang (1830m), and after conquering the twists and turns we arrive at Chisapani. Overnight stay at Chisapani.

Day 14: Trek to Sundarijal|1460m, and Drive back to Kathmandu|1300m 3-4 hrs
From Chisapani, we can clearly see the magnificent sunrise lighting up the Himalayas like Gaurishankar, Annapurna, and Manaslu ranges. Initially, the trek involves crossing the BorlangBhanjyang (2430m). Our route crosses through forests, rough terrain and arrival at the Tamang settlement of Mulkharka (1855m). From here, we need to walk for a while before reaching the main entrance of the park. From Sundarijal, you head towards your hotel in Kathmandu. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 15: Departure to International Airport.
Today will be your last day in Nepal. Depending on the timing of your flight, our representative will drop you off at the Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure. Goodbye and Thank you.
