Overview
Ghorepani Poonhill Trek, which takes you through the breath-taking sunrise view on the top of the Himalayas, is one of the most visited destinations in Nepal in Annapurna region. The trail offers the outstanding panoramic view of Machhapuchhre (6997m), Nilgiri (7061m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Dhaulagiri (8167m) and many other snow-capped mountains. Along with incredible bio-diversity and other treasures of Nepal, Ghorepani Poonhill Trek gives you the pleasure of experiencing the wildlife, terrace farms, typical Nepali villages, and an astounding view of nature ascending from the hills to the Himalayas.
Starting the trip from Kathmandu Valley, the main trek starts in the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara, which lies 220km west to capital. A short flight of 30mins will take you to Pokhara from Kathmandu. The flight takes you above the diverse landscapes and Himalayan views for the entirety of the travel. The journey continues to Nayapul and proceeds to Hille. On the way to Ulleri, you will pass through oak, rhododendron and bamboo forest with the stunning view of the snowy Himalayas including Nilgiri (7061m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and Dhaulagiri (8167m) making our eyes wide open. Now, crossing the beautiful settlements of Magar, Gurung, Chhetri and Brahmin ethnics you’ll march towards Tadapani via Poonhill and then to Ghandruk. The fang-white mountains looming over is bound to make your trek a brilliant one. This adventurous trek with the amusement of beautiful vegetation, wildlife and mountain peaks will make your unending walk worth remembering for a life time. It is a moderate trekking journey that is best when done during the months of September to December and March to June.

ITINERARY:
Day 1 – Arrival in Kathmandu|1300m
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you’ll be greeted by one of HTT’s member and he/she will escort you to your hotel. You can rest and prepare for the trek on the remaining time of your stay. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 2 – Fly to Pokhara|820m| and Transfer to Hille via Nayapul, trek to Ulleri|1960m
After breakfast, you’ll start your journey to Pokhara through a quick half hour flight. Once at Pokhara, you’ll take a short two hours to ride to Nayapul via Lumle. Following the Modi Khola and Bhurungdi Khola, you’ll now move towards the settlement of Hille crossing Birethanti and Lamdawali on the way. After lunch, trek to Ulleri starts. You’ll now ascend to Tikhedhunga. Crossing various suspension bridges and a short steep climb to the hills paves the way to Ulleri. Overnight stay at Ulleri.
Day 3 – Trek to Ghorepani|2880m
Leaving the village of Ulleri, you’ll now move towards the beautiful forest of Rhododendron and Pine. Walking past steep stone paved path along with numerous Donkeys and local people, you’ll reach Ghorepani via Nangethanti. Ghorepani (2850m) is a beautiful settlement which lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area. It is also a gateway to the most important point of the trek- Poonhill. Overnight stay at Ghorepani.
Day 4 – Trek to Tadapani|2630m| via Poonhill
You begin the day with an early morning climb to reach the Poonhill vantage point. The viewpoint is considered to be one of the best for its mesmerizing view of the panorama of Himalayas like Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Lamjung Himal (6983m), and others in Annapurna region. Following the sunrise view, you descend back to Ghorepani and start the trek to Tadapani. On the way to Deurali, you’ll walk past the forest of Rhododendron and Bamboo to finally reach the settlement of Tadapani. Overnight stay at Tadapani.
Day 5 – Trek to Ghandruk|1940m
From Tadapani, you’ll descend towards last Rhododendron forest crossing deep gorges to the open forest. Along the way, a stunning view of Annapurna South (7219m) and Machhapuchhre (6997m) greets us. You’ll now walk past Bhise-Kharka and finally reach the beautiful Gurung settlement of Ghandruk. Once at Ghandruk, you can visit the small local museum, a monastery, and a temple. Overnight stay at Ghandruk.
Day 6 – Trek to Nayapul then transfer to Pokhara|820m
Early in the morning, you’ll further drop down to Syauli Bazaar. Along a few hours of following Modi Khola, you’ll stop at Birethanti for lunch. After a short walk of 30 minutes from Birethanti, you’ll reach Nayapul. From Nayapul, you’ll drive back to Pokhara. The diversity of the farm under the deep blue sky is remarkable which makes up for a smooth short drive. Once at Pokhara, you can even roam around lake-side and enjoy its nightlife. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.
Day 7 – Fly or drive to Kathmandu|1300m
You now bid farewell to an adventurous trek. You’ll pass the Marsayangdi hydroelectric project along with the town of Mugling, at the conjunction of the Marsayangdi and Trishuli rivers. The road starts to climb up and finally you’ll complete the journey back to Nepalese capital. You may also take a short 30mins flight as you see fit. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 8 – Transfer to airport and fly back to home country.
We’ll drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport so you can catch your scheduled flight back home. You’ll be dropped off 2 hours early at the Airport and you can share your experience with us on the way.
