Highlight of Central Tibet and Everest Base Camp Tour

We start with 3 nights in Lhasa itself, visiting the Potala, the Jokhang, the Barkor market, the Norbulinkha and all the great Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the area. Then we set off on a 5 day journey taking in the very best of this great Buddhist homeland. Day one takes us to the vast scintillating Yamdrok Lake on the way to Gyantse; visit famous Pelkhor and Kumbum stupa. Shigatse is the next stop where we visit the great Tashilunpo monastery, seat of the Panchen Lama. After Shigatse, we drive towards Sakya, an ancient monastery and head towards Everest base camp North face. The next two days cover the high plateau approaching the great spine of the Himalaya, Everest, Cho Oyu and Shishapangma. The two 5000m road passes are quite unbelievable viewpoints. The contrast as we descend into the green foothills of Nepal is another eye-opener. This is a week so well spent, taking in the all the cultural essentials yet still giving an insight into the remote and wonderful location that shaped its very existence
