Upper Dolpo, a land beyond the Himalaya, conjures up visions of mysterious monasteries. Also is remote region of Nepal and the focal point of this area is Shey Phoksumdo National Park. It is situated in the western part of the country, and is one of the most remote regions in Nepal, the east and south of it is bordered by the Dhaulagiri and Churen Himal ranges and to the west by Jumla district. This trek crosses three relatively high passes, good paths are followed throughout and there is no trekking on glaciers. At the edge of the Tibetan Plateau in the Himalayan rain shadow lies Dolpo - the legendary hidden land closed for years to trekkers. Trekking to upper Dolpa proffers you the remarkable and worthwhile experience of lifetime. The people of this area are simple and warm-hearted with enthralling culture and traditions. The cultural traditions of this area are basically linked with Tibetan. The major highlight of this trek includes “Shey Phoksundo National Park” which is the largest National Parks of Nepal. “Shey Phoksundo Lake” is another prominent factor of this region. The lake is totally free of aqua life, which the crystal waters clearly explain. Surrounded by rock, forests, and snow- capped peaks, the area has been described as one of the World's “Natural Hidden Wonders”. The lack of other tourists, the warm welcome given by the hardy Dolpo-Pa and the fascinating insight into the Tibetan way of life makes this an extremely varied and special trek. A trek in Nepal, it is ideally suited to both beginners and those who have "been everywhere". You haven't until you've been to Dolpo.
Upper Dolpo is resticted for mass tourism to preserve its unique cultural and natural heritage. Open to visitors only since 1989 this area is for the seekers of adventure , authenticity and true wilderness. It is only by special permit that we are able to offer this trek through Upper Dolpo.
